The 24th Annual SCMAF Women’s Winter Classic was the last SCMAF tournament of the 2009 calendar year. The tournament was held the weekend of December 5th and 6th in Palm Springs. The weekend’s games were held at DeMuth Park in Palm Springs. The weather was somewhat on the chilly side but it did not stop these teams from competing for a championship.
The tournament featured sixteen (16) teams in two divisions during the two-day event. The format calls for all teams to play an average of five (5) games in the Lower Division so all sixteen (16) teams play together on the first day. Based on their won-loss record after the first day, the teams are then re-seeded into two (2) divisions: Upper Division and Lower Division.

The Upper Division was once again won by CHATA from Sylmar who defended their title from 2008. They defeated Bayou from the city Simi Valley by a score of 17-14 in the championship game. The top four (4) place finishers in the Upper Division were:
1. CHATA
2. Bayou
3. Water Connection/Worth
4. Second 2 None

In the Lower Division, 2-Hot-2-Handle from Canoga Park defeated So Cal Boozers from Chino by a score of 23-13 to win the championships. The top four (4) place finishers in the Lower Division were:
1. 2-Hot-2-Handle
2. So Cal Boozers
3. Sharks
4. Old School
Thanks to all the teams that participated in this tournament and for making the trip out to Palm Springs. There were some great games and overall everyone that participated had a good time. A very special thanks goes to Vicki Oltean of Palm Springs and her staff for putting together and hosting the tournament once again.
