The social was held during the holiday weekend on Saturday, July 2 at Angel Stadium. Close to 200 participants showed up for the pregame tailgating event which was held at the parking lot under the "Big A". Food and drink was provided for everyone that attended which consisted of Dodger dogs, sausages, chili and plenty of snacks. Everyone had a chance to participate in the 50/50 raffle with money raised going to various scholarship funds. Whether you participated in the 50/50 raffle or not, everyone had a chance to participate in a general raffle which depending on your luck offered a wide assortment of prizes, some of them tongue-in-cheek.
As far as the fans coming to see the game, attendance was very well split between Dodgers and Angels fans. The game was advertised as a great pitching match-up as Dodgers' ace Clayton Kershaw was facing Angels' ace Jered Weaver. The Angels took an early lead in the 3rd going up 3-0 thanks to a throwing error by Dodgers SS Dee Gordan to home plate and a two run homer by Angels' outfielder Vernon Wells. The Angels were able to add another 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning thanks to some key hitting by Angels' SS Erick Aybar and DH Bobby Abreu. The Dodgers scored their first and only run in the top of the 5th as Dodgers's DH for the game Trent Oeltjen, hit a sacrifice fly to deep center allowing first baseman James Loney to score. The Angels scored their final run on the bottom of the 6th when Dodgers' SS Dee Gordon had his second throwing error of the game allowing Angels' centerfielder Peter Bourjos to score. The Angles ended up winning easily 7-1 with Jered Weaver recording his 10th win of the season and securing another trip to this year's All Star game. Even with the loss, only his 4th of the season, Clayton Kershaw was also named to the National League All-Star Roster.
