The California Park & Recreation Society (CPRS) held its annual California & Pacific Southwest Recreation & Park Training Conference in Palm Springs at the Palm Springs Convention Center, March 9-12. This annual conference is the second largest park and recreation conference in the nation and largest in the Pacific Southwest. Park and recreational professionals from five different states  attended this event including many SCMAF members.

SCMAF once again packed up the old booth and brought it out of its case for two days at the CPRS Expo. The Expo is a good venue to reconnect with SCMAF members across Southern California and make contacts with potential new members. Of course the main reason people come to visit the SCMAF booth, especially on the first day of the expo, is to get the time and location of the SCMAF Social. The SCMAF Social is one of the biggest events that is not directly related to the CPRS Conference. The SCMAF Social offers the chance for people to unwind after a day of educational sessions, events and meetings. The social offers a relaxing atmosphere to catch up with old friends and network.

SCMAF along with partners Cal South and Major League Softball and sponsors Innovative Playgrounds Company, Hirsch and Associates, Inc. and longtime Special Member Musco Lighting, hosted a fun-filled night offering goodie bags, food and drinks and the chance to participate in a Wii Soccer tournament conducted by the Cal South staff. SCMAF would like to thank all of our sponsors for the social and to the Village Pub for hosting the event. See you in Sacramento in 2011!
