Even with a new format and a reduction in registration fees, the primary goal of the SCMAF Institute is to provide students, coordinators, supervisors, administrators, commissioners and part-time staff with a valuable and affordable training opportunity. Registrants this year had the opportunity to select two educational session topics among 12 subject and to participate in a roundtable discussion on 3 different subjects. Educational sessions ranged from recreational law and liability to healthy communities while the roundtable discussions focused on programming and keeping youth interested in sports.

As part of the new format, this year's Institute started with a general session in the main ballroom. The keynote speak was former UCLA softball coach and Hall of Famer Sue Enquist. Not only did Sue give out her cell phone number to everyone in attendance but gave a great motivational speech on how setting little goals each day will bring about great success. She also focused on not letting "negative" people get in the way of what you want to accomplish. Her speech was a great motivational tool to get the attendees pumped up for the rest of the day.

SCMAF would like to thank the Institute Committee for all their hard work on once again putting together another successful event, all the agencies that participated in the Institute, the speakers which put together this year's educational sessions and to our vendors and sponsors for participating. SCMAF was also able to raise over $175.00 for this year's Student Scholarship Fund sponsored by the Guerrero Family Scholarship Fund. Thanks to all that participated in the 50/50 raffle. SCMAF looks forward to seeing everyone again at the Institute next year in 2011.
