Sacramento, CA - The 69th Annual Recreation and Park Training Conference and EXPO was held in Sacramento at the Sacramento Convention Center, February 28 – March 3. It is the second largest Recreation and Park conference and EXPO in the nation and attracts attendees from six different states: Arizona, Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.

SCMAF was once again an exhibitor for two days at the vendor EXPO even though the SCMAF booth was missing on day one. After finding some spare chairs and a table, SCMAF representatives were able to inform interested attendees about that night’s SCMAF Social at de Vere’s Irish Pub. Luckily the booth was recovered and returned the following day.

SCMAF also hosted the SCMAF Social at the CPRS Conference. It is one of the biggest events not officially sanctioned by CPRS. The purpose of the SCMAF Social is to give attendees a chance to relax and unwind after the second day of educational sessions, events and meetings. The social is also a great way to catch up with friends in the parks and recreation profession and network. This year’s social was no different, as over 240 CPRS attendees, many of them SCMAF members, converged to de Vere’s Irish Pub to enjoy the night. Music, refreshments, and raffles were all part of the entertainment during the social. SCMAF President Dave Coleman (City of Artesia) was the official greeter for all the attendees as they checked-in along with representatives from Innovative Playgrounds Company and CPRS District 11.

SCMAF would like to thank all of our sponsors (Burke, CPRS District 11, CPRS District 14, Innovative Playgrounds Company, Musco Lighting Inc., SCMAF Inland Empire, SCMAF Orange County, SCMAF San Gabriel Valley and SCORE Sports) and attendees to making this year’s social another unforgettable event. We hope to see you next year at the 36th Annual SCMAF Social at the CPRS Conference in Long Beach!
