September 17, 2020– South El Monte, CA –SCMAF is excited to announce that this year’s keynote speaker is A.J. Cruz, a former professional football player who played for the Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins and the Canadian Football League.

After reaching the "impossible" dream of playing in the NFL, with less than 1% of a chance, began reflecting on the fundamental necessities for achieving goals and life success. Having faced failure in the form of walking away from 10 tryouts for professional teams without a contract, A.J. persevered and signed a contract in the Arena Football League. Ups and downs followed, including being cut from the Arena Football League team that initially signed him, which ultimately brought him to an opportunity in the NFL. A.J. is outspoken about how hard work, determination & perseverance can be a recipe for achieving "impossible" dreams.

The Institute Committee has been busy planning an informative day filled with 8 dynamic sessions and speakers that will cover a variety of topics that will be beneficial to all recreation professionals.

Registration for the 51st Annual SCMAF Institute is underway. The Institute this year will be held virtually on Thursday, October 1. The deadline to register has been extended to Monday, September 28 by 12:00pm.
