David C. Coleman (1963-2025), Past President of SCMAF in 2016 and 2017, has passed away after a long battle with Lou Gehrig's disease (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)) at the age of 61.

Dave first became a member of SCMAF back in 2005 as a Recreation Supervisor with the City of Victorville. He made his impact on the Federation as a speaker for multiple years at the SCMAF Institute and then became a member of the SCMAF U Training Committee in 2012. He last spoke at the Institute in 2022 for the session "Leadership the Ted Lasso Way."

David was the Chairperson of SportScene in 2012 and was instrumental in SCMAF becoming more involved in social media and moving SportScene to a digital platform.

After the retirement of Scott Williamson (Newport Beach), Dave in 2014 became the new "Voice" of SCMAF being the emcee for many of its events including the Awards and Installation Banquet, SCMAF Institute and the CPRS Social.

David became a member of the Federation Board in 2014 as the Adult Sports Commissioner. The following year as the SCMAF By-laws and board was being restructured, President David DeLeon (La Habra) asked Dave to become the Vice President, a position he would serve for 2 years. Dave would eventually become President in 2016 and 2017 and Past President for Tim Grierson (Carson) for 2 years.

David was the driving force for helping launch "A Better Life Through Sports" Foundation as President and partnering with LA84 on a Football Officials Grant. 

David left the role of Recreation Supervisor in Victorville in 2017 to tackle the challenge of Parks and Recreation Manager in the City of Artesia for 2 years. Even though the drive was long, it brought him closer to one of his "Happiest Places on Earth," Disneyland in which he was a season pass holder. His next job would bring him closer to home as he became the Director of Parks and Recreation at the Town of Apple Valley which he held until his diagnosis.

Dave was the Football Commissioner of SCMAF's Fantasy Football League and a huge fan of the Dodgers. He is survived by his wife Laura, his daughter Katie and son Kegan.
