Over 100 toys collected for needy kids during Inaugural Toy Donation Softball Event

More than 4 boxes overflowing with toys were donated to needy boys and girls thanks to SCMAF’s “Inaugural Holiday Toy Donation Softball Tournament” for Men’s and COED teams at York Park in the city of Whittier.

SCMAF teamed up with the City of Whittier and the Whittier Police Department to donate the toys to the Salvation Army Whittier Corps Toys Drive. The Salvation Army Whittier Corps is one of 56 Salvation Army social service agencies strategically placed throughout Southern California.  The agency will distribute the toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas in the Whittier area.

This is the first year the December tournament has benefited the toy drive. The City of Whittier donated the athletic fields and lights for the charity event.

The tournament included 11 teams competing in three divisions – COED, Men’s “REC” and Men’s “E”.  The Crooks from Whittier took the COED Division, but the Men’s Championship games for the “REC” and “E” Divisions were rained out. Thanks to all the teams that competed, COED: Crooks, Vance and Hines, 1 & Done and Body Shots; Mens: Wicked Sticks, Trash ‘N It Up, Team Chubidubi, Land Sharks, Dirty Hitters, FTP and Staff.
