What better way to start the new year then by preparing for the 2019 track season by attending one of the LA84 Foundation’s FREE Track & Field Clinics.

Coaches of all abilities and all levels from the absolute novice to the seasoned veteran will find each of our clinics offer specific opportunities that target every level, so your whole staff can attend together.

If you are new to the sport, our Beginning/Intermediate Level Clinic on January 5, 2019, will be perfect for you. Our experienced coaches will guide you from the beginning steps to a level where you can create and administer an effective training program in any one of the seven major categories: Sprints, Hurdles, Distances, Throws, High Jump, Long and Triple Jump or Pole Vault.

There will also be general sessions offered on recruiting, building a program, Olympic Lifting, warm-up, core, drills, and many other areas.

If you are an experienced coach, this Beginning Level Clinic is a great opportunity for you to begin to learn another area of expertise. A head coach should have knowledge in all event areas.

On January 25, 2019, we will offer one of our best Advanced Track and Field Clinics ever at Cerritos College.

In the sprints, John Bolton, one of the finest young sprint coaches in the nation, and Andrea Blackett, a two-time Olympian and successful sprint coach at UCLA and Rice University, both will be presenting.

Stacy Dragila, former Olympic and World Champion, will present in the pole vault.

Doug Soles, whose Great Oak teams have not only dominated in cross country in recent years but also have produced an unprecedented run of success in the 800 and 1600 events, will conduct three separate sessions on how to achieve success in the middle distance events.

Our throws sessions may have the best group of presenters we have ever had at a single clinic. Each one of our presenters brings back one of the top high school throwers in the nation this year: Ramona Pagel, former American Record holder and Olympian; Nick Garcia, IAAF level 5 and USATF level three instructor in the throws; Tony Cirelli, who has coached 11 boys who have thrown over 60’ in the shot in high school; and Bill Pendleton, who continues to develop 200’ discus throwers and 60’ shot putters year after year.

In the jumps, former Olympians Willie Banks and Doug Nordquist will present, along with Jeremy Fischer, USATF Lead Jump Coach at the National Training Center, and Jim Keifer, who will discuss how to develop a jump program at your school.

We will also offer a third clinic in February of 2019 that will be geared for the age-group programs.

Each one of our clinics is free for all coaches and adults who would like to attend.
